World Music For Guitar Slightly Damaged
Author: Allan Alexander
Publisher: ADG Productions
World Music For Guitar by Allan Alexander is a beautiful collection of 22 instrumental pieces dating from the 14th. to the 19th. centuries from countries and regions of the world such as: Spain, Scotland, Korea, Germany, North Africa, Romania, Peru, Ireland, Japan, England, USA, Venezuela, Grecce, American Indian, France and Syria. The CD that accompanies the book is a spectacular recording of each of the pieces.
I love EVERYTHING that Allan Alexander does! The arrangements in this book are absolutely gorgeous, accessible, and completely addictive. Allan's arrangements allow for maximum interplay between the flute and the guitar. The guitar parts are NOT of the "oompah" or "hum-strum" variety where the flute is featured and the guitar is merely background. Rather, both instruments are equally prominent. The selection of pieces in this book is extremely varied. Some of the pieces are slow and soothing, while others are much more lively - a perfect mix for performance. My flute-playing partner and I tend to play mostly in church, and many pieces are well-suited to this. Highly recommended. AK
