Catalog Number: ADG113 Author: Allan Alexander Publisher: ADG Productions Music of Spain and South America for Violin by Allan Alexander contains 44 pieces which can be played solo or with a chord instrument. This great collection includes music from the Spain and South America. Most of the pieces have been extended with variations, which make the tunes a more suitable length for performances and are a lot of fun for the violinist to play. Every tune in the book is included on the digitally mastered CD. Though the tunes are very effective as solo material, Allan chose to record them with violinist Elena Rojas. Elena has given a skillful, delightful performance of the music and Allan has rendered the chords artfully. The result is a really lovely CD; listening will be a pleasure. For the player who is new to music of Spain and South America, the recording will give insights into the melodies, and it will allow the violinist who has no access to a chord instrument to hear and play along with the guitar as the violin part can be turned down by fading one channel. For those who know some of these wonderful tunes, it will be a joy to have the music and hear them played by two musicians who obviously love to play this music together. The CD which comes with the book has all 44 of the tunes in the same order in which they appear in the book. The CD will give you insights into the music, and it will be enjoyable to listen to on its own merit. The pieces are as follows: Siway Azucena, El Noy de la Mar, Urubamba, Brazilian Lullaby, Linda Amiga, Chula, Zorongo, El Rio, Navidava Puri Nihua, Canto Para Cosechar la Papa, Danza Pixueta, Jota Puntiada and Xiraldilla de Llaviana, Anillo de Oro, Moorish Dance, Monica Perez, Aire de Salamanca, Cancion de los Incas, Danza de los Hachas, The Merchant's Daughter, Spanish Ballad, Song from Uruguay, Buenos Reyes, Muchacha Bonita, Sevillanas, Si la Nieve Resbala, Cual es aquel Pajarita, Bolivian Dance, Mountains of the Incas, Desde Barquinha ao Telhado, Si Tuvieramos Aceite, A Lado de mi Canon, Tres Hojitas, Madre, Hakumamai Purisisun, Mayan Dance, A la mar fui por naranxes, Baxaben cuatro Ayeranos, La Dancitas, Me Llamaste Morenita, Villancico, El Testament d'Amelia, Cantico.
